The German carrier is expanding its superjumbo fleet operations to more U.S. destinations as part of its winter 2025/26 schedule, while also rolling out new premium cabins across its long-haul network.
Lufthansa will resume Airbus A380 service between Munich and San Francisco during the winter 2025/26 season, returning the superjumbo jet to a route it hasn’t served since March 2020.
The German airline announced the schedule change Tuesday as part of its broader winter planning, which begins October 26. San Francisco joins Los Angeles, Bangkok and Delhi as destinations that will receive A380 service from Lufthansa’s Munich hub.
The expansion comes shortly after Lufthansa launched A380 flights between Munich and Denver last month, further strengthening the carrier’s superjumbo presence in the U.S. market.
Beyond its A380 deployment, Lufthansa also confirmed an expansion of its new Allegris premium cabin product to additional routes. Starting October 26, the upgraded interior will fly daily from Munich to multiple U.S. destinations including New York-JFK, Newark, Chicago and Miami.
The Allegris service will also extend to Shanghai, Cape Town, Tokyo and Bengaluru, with the Indian destination receiving three weekly flights.
Frankfurt-based travelers will see the Allegris cabin for the first time aboard Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. The airline also plans to retrofit its existing fleet with the new cabin product, beginning with its Boeing 747-8i aircraft later this year.
